Overview
As a life-long Newcastle United fan, this project was a huge honour for me. Bazaar Group presented me the opportunity to create artwork for the perimeter boards at St James' Park advertising one of their retail websites www.beanbagbazaar.co.uk. The artwork featured at the Newcastle vs Chelsea premier league 19/20 season fixture. It played multiple times pre-match, during half time and post-match for the 52,000 people at the stadium and even got a few cameos on Sky Sports.
Rationale
To create more visual interest and catch the eyes of the crowd, I created a smoothly animated piece that rolled in and out seamlessly like a football rolling across the grass being kicked backwards and forwards.
The colour choice of black and white was chosen to appeal to the Newcastle fans in the stand. The logo is a constant feature throughout to reinforce the brand identity. A mix of static and moving image makes sure there is a constant message being shown, this being the direction to the website.
I used some line drawing illustrations of the top-selling products on www.beanbagbazaar.co.uk to give people an idea of the kind of products to expect. The shapes of the products were unique and created more visual interest. For the background of the animation, I used a close-up photograph of the bead, a key element of a bean bag.
